The Alumni association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have honoured the institution’s top graduating students with cash awards and other gifts in recognition of their academic excellence.
The presentation took place during the university’s 18th convocation ceremony held on Wednesday at its auditorium in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
While presenting the awards, alumni representatives explained that the initiative is not a one-time gesture but part of a long-term commitment to celebrating and promoting academic achievement within the university community.
The association’s Global President, Lekan Badmus, announced a donation of ₦200,000 to each best graduating student across all departments. He emphasised the critical role education plays in driving societal growth and development.
According to him, investing in education remains essential to addressing societal challenges and advancing human capital. He added that the initiative also reflects the alumni body’s dedication to supporting both students and staff, while creating opportunities for further educational growth.
Other contributors to the initiative included former alumni president, Solomon Onilede, and Adeyanju Ibrahim.
They encouraged the award recipients to stay innovative, remain focused, and continue striving for excellence as they pursue their future careers.
