Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has opened up about one of the darkest moments of his life, revealing that he once went to price his own casket after becoming overwhelmed by frustration and hopelessness.

The respected Yoruba movie star made the revelation during an interview with Feelright TV, a clip of which began circulating online on Wednesday.
Speaking in Yoruba, Odule recounted how fellow actor Olaiya Igwe accompanied him during the emotional moment.

“I once went to price my own casket when I completely lost hope. Olaiya Igwe followed me there and he broke down in tears like a child,” he said.

According to the actor, his decision was not influenced by illness or any medical condition, but by deep disappointment over what he believed was a lack of progress in his career despite spending decades in the movie industry.

Odule explained that he had become discouraged after comparing his life with that of his former schoolmates, many of whom he felt were more successful and financially stable.

“I wasn’t sick. I just felt I could no longer achieve any major breakthrough in the industry. I became tired because many of my classmates were doing much better than me, while my own life felt stagnant,” he added.

Dele Odule began his acting journey in the 1970s and rose to prominence after his role in the popular Yoruba film Ti Oluwa Nile, which remains one of the classics in the Nigerian movie industry.
