The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has been hospitalised after reportedly collapsing during a political consultation in the state.
The actress-turned-politician disclosed the incident in a video shared on her Instagram page on Friday, revealing that she was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, after losing consciousness.
“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God, I am stabilised now,” she wrote alongside the video.
Although she confirmed that her condition had stabilised following medical attention, Ogala did not provide details about the cause of the collapse. As of the time of filing this report, she had also not indicated whether she had been discharged from the hospital.
In the video, the AAC candidate was seen being pushed around the hospital in a wheelchair by a nurse while interacting warmly with patients and healthcare workers.
In a touching moment, she led fellow patients in prayer, asking God to grant them healing and restoration.
“Father King of Glory, I ask that you touch every person here. Let them be healed in the name of Jesus. You know every part of our body. May your healing fall on everybody here,” she prayed.
She further prayed for divine intervention in the lives of those receiving treatment, expressing hope that they would recover and return to testify of their healing.
Ogala is one of the candidates preparing to contest the forthcoming governorship election in Abia State. She is expected to face several contenders, including the incumbent governor, Alex Otti of the Labour Party, Eric Opah of the All Progressives Congress, Kelechi Anosike of the Peoples Democratic Party, and others.
Since declaring her ambition, the AAC candidate has campaigned on promises of improved healthcare, quality education, infrastructure development, transparency, accountability and economic growth.
She has repeatedly stated that her administration, if elected, would prioritise the welfare of the people while creating opportunities for employment and sustainable development across the state.
In recent months, Ogala has also been active in community advocacy. She previously visited residents whose shops were reportedly demolished in Afara Community, Umuahia North Local Government Area, where she encouraged affected individuals to remain hopeful and use their votes to shape the future of the state.
The politician has maintained that her entry into the governorship race is driven by a desire to improve the living conditions of Abia residents and provide responsive leadership.
