The Tobest Liberation Movement and Empowerment Initiatives (TLM) has graduated more than 50 beneficiaries from its Skill Up Naija 2026 programme and provides self employment to widows, elderly persons and outstanding trainees in Osogbo, Osun State.
The beneficiaries were celebrated during the organisation’s graduation, empowerment and award presentation ceremony held on Saturday at Centre Point Hotel, Ayetoro, Osogbo.
The programme brought together community leaders, entrepreneurs, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to mark the completion of vocational and entrepreneurial training by participants drawn from different parts of the state.
The trainees received instruction in various skills, including barbing, shoe making, hairdressing, makeup and gele styling, beadwork, adire production and bag making.
Speaking at the event, organisers said the initiative was aimed at equipping participants with practical skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to economic development.
Outstanding participants were recognised for their performance and received cash support to assist them in establishing or expanding their businesses.
In addition to the graduation ceremony, widows and elderly residents received financial assistance as part of the organisation’s efforts to support vulnerable members of society amid prevailing economic challenges.
Several guests at the event commended the initiative, describing skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development as critical tools for tackling unemployment and poverty.
The ceremony also featured an award presentation segment during which individuals were honoured for contributions to leadership, community service, entrepreneurship, humanitarian activities and youth development.
The event coincided with the birthday celebration of the founder of the organisation, attracting friends, associates, beneficiaries and supporters.
Addressing participants, the founder reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to empowerment, mentorship and community development through programmes designed to create opportunities for young people and vulnerable groups.
Many of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the training and support received, saying the programme had equipped them with skills and resources needed to improve their livelihoods.
The Skill Up Naija initiative is one of several programmes through which TLM seeks to promote entrepreneurship, self-reliance and community development across Osun State.
