The All Progressives Congress has unveiled a high-powered National Campaign Council ahead of the forthcoming Ekiti State governorship election, appointing Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani as chairman of the team.
The party also named Senate President Godswill Akpabio as co-chairman, while Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele will serve as secretary of the council.
The APC disclosed that the campaign council will be formally inaugurated on Wednesday, June 10, at the Kashim Shettima Hall of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the inauguration signals the beginning of intensified mobilisation and campaign activities aimed at securing victory in the June 20 Ekiti governorship election.
According to Morka, the council comprises serving and former governors, top National Assembly officials and other influential party leaders who will coordinate campaign efforts across the state.
He explained that the council has been tasked with overseeing strategic planning, voter mobilisation and other activities necessary to strengthen the party’s chances at the polls.
To enhance efficiency, the APC has also constituted several specialised subcommittees to handle critical aspects of the campaign. These include election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots engagement, logistics, protocol, media and publicity, security, women and youth mobilisation, as well as secretariat operations.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled the Ekiti State governorship election for June 20, 2026.
The APC leadership expressed confidence that the campaign structure will provide the coordination and momentum needed to deliver a successful outing for the party in the forthcoming election.
