Switzerland delivered a ruthless second-half performance to overpower Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in their Group B clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, securing an important victory in their push for a place in the knockout stage.
After a tightly contested first half ended goalless, Switzerland returned after the break with greater intensity and eventually broke the deadlock in the closing stages of the match. Substitute Johan Manzambi opened the scoring in the 74th minute to ignite the Swiss attack.
The Swiss side quickly took control as Ruben Vargas added a second goal in the 84th minute before Manzambi struck again late in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt. Bosnia’s problems worsened after being reduced to ten men following a red card that shifted momentum firmly in Switzerland’s favour.
Bosnia and Herzegovina managed a late consolation through Ermin Mahmic deep into added time, but Switzerland had the final word as captain Granit Xhaka calmly converted a penalty to seal an emphatic 4-1 victory.
The result gives Switzerland their first win of the tournament and strengthens their position in Group B, while Bosnia now face increased pressure in their remaining fixtures to keep their World Cup campaign alive.
