Chelsea have completed the signing of highly rated Portuguese youngster Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth £40 million.

The 18-year-old has signed an eight-year contract at Stamford Bridge, keeping him at the club until 2034.

Chelsea reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for Quenda’s transfer in March 2025, but the winger remained with the Portuguese club for the 2025/26 season before officially completing the move this summer.

Quenda endured a setback towards the end of 2025 after suffering a metatarsal fracture, an injury that sidelined him until March 2026. During his recovery, he spent time at Chelsea’s training facilities as part of his rehabilitation programme ahead of his arrival in west London.

Known for his pace, creativity and versatility, Quenda is naturally a winger but is comfortable playing on either the left or right flank.

Chelsea view the Portugal youth international as one of Europe’s brightest young talents, and his arrival is expected to bolster the club’s long-term attacking options as they continue to invest in emerging stars.
