Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is set to address journalists and residents of Osun State on Wednesday over security, the preparedness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other issues ahead of the state’s governorship election.
The briefing is scheduled to hold at 11:00 a.m. at Imole House, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo, according to an invitation released on Tuesday.
Confirming the development in a post on his X handle, the singer said he would use the press conference to discuss issues relating to security, electoral transparency and INEC’s preparations for the election.
“I will be having a press conference tomorrow at Imole House, Osogbo, to discuss security, INEC and transparency issues,” Davido wrote.
The music star, who was recently appointed Chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Committee for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign, is expected to speak on key developments ahead of the August 15 governorship poll.
According to the organisers, the briefing will focus on “security, INEC transparency and other major issues” surrounding the forthcoming election.
Davido, who is Governor Adeleke’s nephew, has played a prominent role in the governor’s re-election campaign, leading youth mobilisation efforts and participating in campaign activities across different parts of Osun State.
Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, is seeking a second term in office in the forthcoming governorship election. His bid has intensified political activities across the state as parties continue campaigns ahead of the poll.
