Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, can now verify and upload their O’Level results from the comfort of their homes, thanks to a new online system introduced by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
The new service, which for now covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, is aimed at reducing candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres for O’Level uploads, especially during peak periods when the centres are usually swamped.
Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ results directly with the relevant examination bodies before uploading them to their profiles, cutting out much of the back-and-forth that came with the manual process.
In a statement on Monday, the Board’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the initiative was designed to make JAMB’s services easier, faster, safer and more convenient, while doing away with the headaches that came with the old manual upload system.
According to JAMB, the new system will also help tackle recurring issues such as misplaced or mixed-up paper certificates, submission of unverified or fraudulent results, and errors that often crept in during manual entry of subjects and grades.
With JAMB’s e-Facility platform now integrated with examination bodies, candidates’ results can be cross-checked against official records held by the issuing bodies before being downloaded into their JAMB profiles.
The Board described the innovation as part of its renewed customer-focused service delivery agenda under its sixth Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, with technology being deployed to cut down on unnecessary physical visits, long queues and paperwork.
How to verify and upload results
To get started, candidates will first need to obtain a result verification code by visiting the designated result verification portal.
They’ll be asked to provide their National Identification Number, NIN, select the number of O’Level sittings, choose the relevant examination body or bodies, and supply their email address and phone number, before making payment through the available payment gateway.
Once payment is made, candidates will enter their examination details including examination number, series and year. A Verification Code is then issued upon successful verification.
The next step involves sending “VERIFY” along with the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. JAMB says the verified result will then be uploaded, with candidates receiving a notification confirming the submission.
For candidates with two O’Level sittings, the process involves logging into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and selecting “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.” After entering the Verification Code, both verified results will be displayed, allowing candidates to pick the subjects they need.
Candidates must select a minimum of five and a maximum of nine subjects with no subject repeated before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.” A notification is sent once the upload is successfully completed.
JAMB noted that the new verification service would come in especially handy during periods when CBT centres are overwhelmed with heavy patronage, long queues or network glitches.
The Board said it remains committed to strengthening collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies, while continuing to deploy technology to simplify its processes and improve the overall experience for candidates.
It added that the development reflects its determination to put candidate convenience and efficient service delivery at the centre of its operations, the latest step in JAMB’s ongoing digital transformation, which is steadily shifting processes that once required physical presence toward a fully remote, technology-driven system.
