The Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has promised to address what he described as 24 years of inadequate federal presence in the constituency, pledging to attract development projects and expand access to federal opportunities.

Olajengbesi made the promise during a visit to Ipetu-Ile, where he was received by supporters, women, youths and community leaders across the ward.

He said the visit was part of his efforts to engage residents, understand their concerns and present his plans for improving the constituency.

According to the candidate, communities across the area have been left without significant federal projects for more than two decades, a situation he said must change.

“You cannot mention any serious federal project in Ward 2 in the last 20 years. That is the reality. Our people in Ipetu-Ile, Ase-Ijesa, Ada-Owode, Itiya, Ilu Ojatuntun, Olomu and Erinja have been left to survive on their own. We are coming to change that,” he said.

Olajengbesi also pledged to make federal opportunities more accessible to residents, particularly farmers, traders, students and artisans, if elected.

He said his proposed agenda would focus on helping constituents access grants and loans, federal employment opportunities and agricultural support programmes.

“We will bring the federal government closer to our farmers, our traders, our students and our artisans. From access to grants and loans, to federal jobs, to agricultural support, we will open the doors that have been shut against our people,” he added.

The candidate’s campaign message centred on addressing perceived gaps in federal development and ensuring that communities in Obokun/Oriade benefit more directly from government programmes and opportunities.
