The Deputy Governor, State of Osun, Mr. Benedict Olugboyega Alabi has revealed that  the state government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola will continue to accord priority to vocational and technical education in the state.

The Deputy Governor stated this while signing the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the Governor, with WADHWANI Foundation from California , USA, to equip graduates from technical colleges with key skills to make them employable. Some instructors had been trained by the foundation, and are ready to be deployed into the technical colleges in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the state’s Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade observed that all over the world, technical and vocational education are given priorities in the recent years. That was part of the reasons why China converted about 600 Universities to vocational education institutions. Technical and vocational education offer direct valuable employments.

The Deputy Governor appreciates the foundation for bringing the skill enhancing opportunities to the State of Osun. He requested that such skills should be extended to the state’s polytechnic and college of technology and even the supervisors. “In any vocation, proper training of operators is very important” the Deputy Governor concluded.
