The crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party on Tuesday took a deadly dimension as seven national officers of the party’s National Working Committee.

Although details of those who resigned and the reason for their action was still sketchy as of the time of writing this report, it was gathered that the officials complained about what they referred to as “an unpleasant working environment”.

The party’s National Organising Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (retd), confirmed the resignations to newsmen.

He, however, said those who resigned were deputies not the substantial heads of the departments. He declined to give further details.

Those who resigned include the deputy national financial secretary, the deputy legal adviser, the deputy national auditor, the deputy national publicity secretary, the deputy women leader and the deputy organising secretary.

The said they cannot continue working under the leadership of Prince Uche Secondus, the national chairman of the party.
