The Youth Wing of the Foremost International Islamic Organization, NASFAT has commenced the second edition of her sporting activities, tagged NASFAT Games (NASGA).

National Youth Secretary of NASFAT, Mr Raji Kabir revealed this while addressing press conference at Fountain University, Osogbo, on Monday.

According to him, the games are meant to educate, enlighten and foster unity among youths across the country. He said the first edition of the programme, which was held in 2017 recorded success and has been replicated across all zones of the organization.

He said the sporting events, which will be held on the campus of Fountain University, Osogbo, will host 15 zones (teams) of NASFAT Youth Wing from across the Nation and they’ll be participating in different sporting activities which will climax with medals presentation on September 11, 2021.

“NASGA is set up as a rallying point to further educate and enlighten us, especially in the light of the fragile peace hirtherto enjoyed, to contribute immensely to the act of Nation building, using our Youthful energy while using same avenue to foster long-lasting peace.”

The event is poised to achieve, among other, development grassroots sports, reduction in crime and tendency to crime by getting more youth involved in sporting activities, discovery of new sports talent from among the NASFAT Youth and development of social relationships within NASFAT branches through sport.

It’s also meant to raise a National Team for NASFAT to participate in National League on major sporting activities within the country and beyond, improve the visibility of Fountain University to more Youth and Stakeholders and improve on the sporting facilities of Fountain University.

Quoting the words of Nelson Mandela, a renowned World Leader, Kabir said, ” Sport has the power to change the World, it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to Youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once, there was only despair. It is more powerful than Government in breaking down race barriers.”

“It is in consonance with the above that we have organized a NASGA, expectedly upgraded to bring in more Zones, more members and intending ones by extensively putting on the cards, more games both indoor and outdoor for wider participation and influence as it is believed that this will set a tune for some of our brothers and sisters in defining their career paths.”

NASGA was designed to ensure participation of male and female.

Some of the activities involved are football, volleyball, basketball, javelin, shortput, relay races, among others.
