Some Nigerians on Twitter have been expressing concerns about the safety of passengers using the vehicles on the Bus Rapid Transport scheme in Lagos, askin Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu about the safety of lives of Lagosians.
This is in light of the death of Bamise Ayanwole, who went missing when she boarded one of the buses at Chevron, Lekki, on her way to Oshodi.
Ayanwole’s body was found on Monday on Lagos Island.
Reacting to the news of her death, activist, Rinu Oduala, “Bamise was my age mate. Now, she’s no more, because she entered a BRT, a government-owned bus in Lagos. I’m sorry, Bamise. The country failed you. LAMATA must pay for this. Everyone involved must pay.
A tweep, Ola tweeted, “Dear Gov. #jidesanwoolu of Lagos State. The death of Bamise should never be swept under the carpet like the death of the innocent #EndSARS protesters. We would not give up on both. What is now safe? Ordinary BRT from #Lekki. This is so scary😡”
Toyosi Godwin tweeted, “Bamise’s death can happen to anyone. Please, join in the protest for justice. This was not a danfo. Not a street taxi. It was a government-backed bus. Is that not crazy?”
‘Wale Adejare said, “This is Bamise Ayanwole, the young lady that was kidnapped in a BRT in Lagos state, she was killed. We demand justice for Bamise. #JusticeForBamise Tens of lives must have been taken this way until her bravery revealed this cruelty.”
Everest said, “Young ladies are abducted and killed because they follow rich men that are not in their class.” No, young women are killed because society isn’t safe and justice never prevails. Bamise was in a government-owned BRT.”
