The Police has finally broken silence on the arrest of popular Ibadan broadcaster and Founder of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement obtained by InsightMedia in Abuja, the police said Hamzat was arrested with search warrant over a case of Cyber bullying.

The statement reads, “The popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, was arrested in ibadan today by our Force Intelligence Bureau operatives in connection with a case of Cyber Bullying under investigation.

“Oriyomi’s arrest was sequel to his refusal to honour Police invitation severally, which prompted the police to secure a warrant for his arrest.

“We are looking into the petition written against him on his violation of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015, and necessary action will be taken to do justice in the matter.”

InsightMedia has reported that Hamzat was arrested in connection with a petition written by Dr Ramon Adedoyin over an allegation of Cyber bullying.

Adedoyin is currently facing trial over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who died in Adedoyin’s Hilton hotel.
