The People’s Democratic Party on Wednesday, gathered to officially welcome the former commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Barrister Kolapo Alimi and his loyalists to the party.

Alimi, who is a loyalist of Former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, left the All Progressives Congress in conjunction with thousands of supporters for the PDP. He was received at the State Party secretariat by the caretaker Chairman of the party, Dr Adekunle Akindele and other PDP chieftains across the State.

Speaking with InsightMedia, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the Director General of Senator Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation, described the day as a day of harvest for the PDP in Osun ahead of the governorship election holding next month.

“We are here to receive members of the APC into People’s Democratic Party. We believe today is a day of harvest for the Osun PDP as their addition will boost our chances in the forthcoming governorship election in the State.”

Addressing the gathering, Alimi said he has joined the next ruling party in Osun State, adding that he will contribute his quota to the development of the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke.

He said, “We are going to work for the victory and emergence of His excellency distinguished senator Ademola Adeleke in the forthcoming Osun gubernatorial election as the next Governor of the State.

“Shortly after the inauguration of the sitting Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has divided the All Progressives Congress, APC, and he limited the benefits of the loyalists. We could no longer bear the heat, that’s why this acceptance gathering is holding today”he said.

“Across 19 local government with 2513 members,and 8 groups, which are viable including the local government of the ruling governor, Boripe are present today”, he explained.

He urged his loyalists and old members of the party to work assiduously to the emergence of senator Ademola Adeleke, as the next governor of osun state,to make PDP the ruling party,which he said to be “the right party”.

The meeting was also graced by the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate,His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, and other dignitaries of the party.

“We welcome Barrister Alimi and the newly defected members to the party,and I promise that there will be equality among the old and new members,and there shouldn’t be any biased judgement towards them”, he said.
