Armed police officers have been deployed at the strategic points in Osogbo, Osun State capital, as the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will today delivery its judgment on the petition filed by the former Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and his party, the All Progressives Congress.
Oyetola is challenging the victory of Senator Ademola Adeleke in the July 16, 2022 governorship election.
InsightMedia gathered that the police deployed its men to block the road to the Osun State High Court from Oke-Fia and Lameco roundabouts. Only people with special functions are allowed to move into through the about 1km road.
Tight security was also observed at the Party secretariats of both the PDP and the APC located at Biket Junction and Ogo-Oluwa respectively.
Armed men were also sighted at the campaign offices of Oyetola and Adeleke, both located at Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo. The measure according to a security source is aimed at preventing breakdown of laws and orders by the supporters of both political parties.
Inside the court premises, men of the police force, civil defence and department of state security were sighted providing security at the premises.
Earlier on Thursday, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola had in a statement warned politicians and political hoodlums not to cause any violence.
