Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has disclosed that his administration is determined to change the education narratives in the State by improving the learning environment.
Governor Adeleke stated this today during the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of instructional materials to the State public Secondary Schools held at Local Government Service Commission Hall, State Secretariat complex, Abere.
Governor Adeleke vowed that he is resolved to revamp the education sector so as to enable students perform better in their academics.
The State helmsman also noted that Teachers will be empowered by making them comfortable in the discharge of duties.
In their separate goodwill messages, the representative of ANCOPS, Mr Emmanuel Ijaodola, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Fatade Olatoke and Mr Akinloye Fadare commended Governor Adeleke for playing fatherly role in the education sector in the State. They assured him that the instructional materials will be effectively used for the development of the students.
He promised that teachers will discharge their duties diligently. The trio appealed to the Governor to recruit more teachers to fill the existing vacancies in the Schools, just as they appealed to him to employ security guards in all Schools for protection of the Schools and their property.
They equally requested the Governor to restore the running grant to Schools for the smooth running of academics.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr Adelani Aderinola who welcomed the Governor and his entourage to the epoc making event, said it marked the beginning of new dawn in the implementation of educational policies in the State.
He listed some of the instructional materials which included:45,000 daily attendance registers, 15,000 School record diaries, 16,000 of cumulative record folders among others.
He noted that this singular gesture will put more energy and drive into the educational development in the State.
Mr Aderinola therefore charged stakeholders in the education sector to join hands together with the government towards ensuring the full realization of the aims and objectives of Government.
The event featured the distribution of the instructional materials, entertainment by School Cultural Troupes as well as Osun Cultural Troupe, among others.
Present at the programme were: Top Government functionaries, Principals, Tutor Generals and Teachers to mention but a few.
