Former Real Madrid defender, Jonathan Woodgate has said Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan in this year’s Champions League final, confirms Pep Guardiola as the greatest manager ever.

Guardiola, who has won the trophy twice with Barcelona, led the Premier League team to a Treble this season.

Woodgate, speaking to BBC Radio Live, hailed the Spaniard for his innovative work.

“It confirms Pep Guardiola is the greatest. He changes the way we look at football. He’s an innovator. He puts people in different positions and he makes it work.

“He improves every player he works with and if someone doesn’t want to work with him, he gets them out of the team.

“He installs a great team spirit, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland have talked about it. Tonight the spirit got him over the line,” he said
