The Arewa Consultative Forum has described the reduction of the 50 per cent registration fees for Kano State students in all the state-owned tertiary institutions as both revolutionary and exemplary.
The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, had directed all the indigenes studying regular courses at the state-owned tertiary institutions to enjoy relief of a 50 per cent reduction in the registration fee for the 2023/2024 academic session.
In a statement issued by the forum’s Publicity Secretary, Bello Galandichi, on Thursday, the Chairman of the Kano State branch of the ACF, Dr. Goni Farouk Umar, described the decision as both revolutionary and a hallmark of visionary leadership.
He said, “We found it necessary to express our delight with the state government’s resolve to restore its foreign scholarship programme as well as its demonstrated compassion in the payment of registration fees for 7,000 state students at the BUK, ” the statement said.

The ACF leader noted that both the slashing of the fees in state institutions, and the offsetting of the BUK fees would go a long way in easing the financial burdens on parents and students occasioned by the current economic hardship.
While describing education as power, and pivotal to societal advancement, Farouk prayed for the successful implementation of the government’s pro-poor education policies.
He also appealed to all sections of the community to support educational development in all facets.
