A Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Joseph Ikyegh, has died suddenly.
Justice Ikyegh was among the list of 22 justices sent by the Federal Judicial Service Commission to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for recommendation to the Supreme Court.
His name was under the North-Central zone but on the reserve column.
Justice Ikyegh did not make the list of 11 justices eventually recommended by the NJC to President Bola Tinubu.
As at the time of his death yesterday, Wednesday, December 6, 2023, Justice Ikyegh was 65 years old and President of the Court of Appeal Port Harcourt Division.
His family confirmed his death in a statement but was silent on the cause. Media reports however say he slumped in front of his family members at his home town in Makurdi, Benuw State, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
