The Emi-Kola Afolabi Foundation (EKAF) on Saturday provided free medical consultations and drugs for the residents of Otan-Aiyegbaju community, Boluwaduro local government area of Osun State as part of the activities marking the 18th anniversary of the organization.
The NGO, which was established in 2006, has since been committed to making life better for people at the grassroots and making positive impacts in different communities across the State.
No fewer than 300 residents of Otan-Aiyegbaju and adjourning communities benefitted from the project.
Experts from the areas of medicine were engaged by the organization to carry out the service. Some of the ailments attended to include general medicine, eye-tests, among others.
Speaking to InsightMedia the Co-founder of the Foundation, Sir James Adekola Afolabi said the program is to cater for over 300 people from the community and it was specifically carried out to mark the 18th anniversary of the foundation.
He said “This foundation has been in existence for 18 years and we decided to do this outreach for specialized services and we have brought in experts from their different fields to deliver the best treatments to the people”.
Sir Afolabi spoke on the importance of the outreach and urged everyone in the community to always prioritize their health above other things.
Dr Adebukola Olutoye one of the specialists at the Programme, praised the initiative and the impact on the people.
“The turn out has been impressive and from our consultations so far we have deduced that many of the elderly ones here have some health conditions that should be treated and we have given them drugs and prescription to help them going forward. All these can be done because of the Foundation has made provisions available. So I will say this is a good initiative.”
Many beneficiaries were seen trooping into the venue to receive treatment.
Kudirat Oyebade, a mother of three, expressed her gratitude to the Foundation as she received proper attention and all her complaints were attended to.
She said “ I complained of Malaria, fever and body pains and they responded to all of my complaints. I am very grateful to the Foundation for this program”.
In the same vein, Ayodeji Stephen also expressed how thankful he was to be treated and given drugs at zero cost to him.
