The Forum of All Progressives Congress State Chairmen has vowed that Nigerians and political stakeholders will resist any attempt to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.

The delegation of 37 state chairmen stated this at a media conference at the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja on Monday.

The APC chieftains’ warning was due to the growing tension generated by the anticipated August 1 to 10 #EndBadGovernance nationwide protest.

The demonstration, scheduled to run from August 1 to 10, has continued to generate tension and elicit mixed reactions from Nigerians

Several groups who indicated interest in championing the campaign said the call for protest was provoked by the soaring cost of living and economic hardship in the country.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Secretary of the APC States Chairmen Forum, Alphonsus Eba, warned that they wouldn’t fold their arms and watch some unscrupulous elements forcefully overthrow the current administration.

He said, “We call on all patriotic Nigerians to resist any attempt by anyone or any group of persons to intimidate them into unorganised protest likely to endanger the peace we currently enjoy as a nation.

“We call on patriots to join forces with security agencies to report any criminal element who attempts to carry out any act of violence.

“Against this background, in the next two weeks commencing from today 29th July to 11th August 2024 and from this press briefing, which shall follow with a solidarity rally by all structures of our party across all political wards, LGAs and states capital including Abuja FCT.”

The party’s chairmen vowed to embark on a counter-protest to hail Tinubu’s policies and reforms.

“We shall embark on a peaceful rally to re-echo the laudable projects and the programmes of President Tinubu with greater vigour to protect and defend our democracy from any attack by hoodlums or some criminal elements who want to carry out the violent protest.”

“All our party men and concerned Nigerians in other political parties, are enjoined to stand firm in the protection of democracy.

“It should be noted that violent protest being contemplated by the faceless group as contained in their charter of demand will annihilate the democratic ideals which all political parties subscribed to,” he concluded.
