In a swift response to the infrastructural challenges facing Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke has initiated the installation of solar-powered streetlights across major roads.

This development comes weeks after InsightMedia highlighted the need for improved lighting infrastructure in the city in widely read Editorial.

According to the Editorial , this medium highlighted the dangers of black out in major areas in the state capital which could result to increase in crime and reduce the safety of the residents of Osogbo.

In response, InsightMedia sighted engineers within the metropolis installing solar-powered streetlights.

Areas such as Akoda, Owode, Abere, Ogooluwa now have solar panels fully installed, while work is ongoing at the Gbodofon section of the road as at Monday, September 16.

Sources informed our correspondent that the installation will go through to Ota-Efun area of the City.

The installation of solar streetlights, many residents believe, is a significant step towards enhancing the safety and security of Osogbo residents, particularly at night.
