The Osun State Government has upgraded the Oluworu Olamese to a full fledged Oba and presented a staff of office to Oba Alhaji Abdulyekeen Olatunde Olaniyan, the Oluworu of Woru Olamese.
The colourful presentation of staff, which took place in Woru Town, Egbedore Local Government Area, was attended by dignitaries, including representatives of the state government, traditional rulers, and other well-meaning individuals.
Barrister Dosu Babatunde, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, who represented the Governor Ademola Adeleke, congratulated the monarch and appealed to the residents to shun violence and embrace peace.
“I urge you all to shun violence and embrace peace, as this is the only way we can develop our community,” he said.
A former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yusuf, commended the state government and expressed confidence that the monarch would do well in his term adding that the upgrade will lead to development in the community.
“I commend the state government for this noble gesture, and I am confident that the monarch will do well in his term, leading to development in the community,” he said.
The monarch, Oba Olaniyan expressed gratitude to the governor for his support and promised to make improvements and strive for greater heights.
“I am grateful to the governor for his support, and I promise to make improvements and strive for greater heights,” he said. “My advice to everyone is to be positive and hardworking.”
In his remarks, the monarch appreciated the state government and prayed for the residents.
“I appreciate the state government for this noble gesture, and I pray for the residents of this community to work diligently and strive for greatness,” he said.
Dr Olalekan Yusuff, the chairman of the coronation planning committee, noted that the governor’s approval for the elevation of the monarch was a significant milestone, and he was happy to have overcome the challenges that came with it.

Woru is an ancient community in Egbedore local and indigenes of the town have been clamouring for upgrading of its traditional stool from Baale to an Oba and the struggle has come to fruition.
