A member of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado-Doguwa on Tuesday apologised to the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress for comments made at the 2024 Ede Day celebrations.

Doguwa said his statements were deliberately misused for political gains by the People’s Democratic Party in the State.

“The PDP in Osun misused my comments to suit their local political struggles. This was a deliberate attempt to gain political advantage.

“I wish to tender my unreserved apologies to our APC family in Osun State. Please accept my heartfelt apologies. By God’s grace, the days of the PDP are numbered in Osun State. In 2026, our party will bounce back in the state, Insha Allah,” he said.

The Osun APC had accused Ado-Doguwa of demarketing the party while representing the Speaker, Tajudeen Abass at the celebrations.

He was reported to have praised Governor Demola Adeleke for his giant strides in the state saying “It appears to me that Osun is like a no-go area.”.

Reacting in a statement he signed on Tuesday, the Kano lawmaker reiterated his unwavering support for the APC

He stated, “I remain the chief promoter of the All Progressives Congress across the country, including in Osun State.

He urged his fellow APC members in Osun to accept his apologies, stating that his comments were misinterpreted and he never intended to undermine the party.

“I never meant to embarrass or criticize my mother’s party in any way,” he assured.
