Nollywood actress Chioma Akpotha has shared insights into her preparation for her role in the newly released Netflix series, Seven Doors.

In the series, Akpotha takes on the role of an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, played by Femi Adebayo.

The storyline weaves a captivating tale of kingship, kinship, family, love, betrayal, and restitution. To authentically portray her character, the actress had to master fluent Yoruba for the role.

During a TVC interview alongside co-star Femi Adebayo, Akpotha revealed the challenges of learning the language specifically for the series.

She explained, “I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors. The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one people in Lagos speak, so I had to be very intentional about the tone.”

In Seven Doors, Chioma shines as Queen Amaka, a resourceful and steadfast queen of the Ilara Kingdom, who skillfully navigates the palace’s intrigues.

The series, which premiered on Netflix on December 13, has received widespread acclaim for its gripping storyline, well-developed characters, and standout performances.

Featuring an ensemble cast of Nollywood veterans, including Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Salami, Jide Kosoko, Hafiz Oyetoro, and Dele Odule, Seven Doors continues to capture the audience’s attention.
