Ijeshaland PDP Elders Caucus reject Obada as leader, insist on Babatope

Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party in Ijeshaland have stated that former Minister of Transport, Chief Ebenezer Babatope remains the leader of the caucus.

The leaders stated this in a communique released after a meeting in Ilesha on Sunday, January 10.

In the communique, signed by Sunday Bisi, secretary of the caucus, the Ijesha Elders Caucus stated that the appointment of Former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Erelu Olusola Obada is null and void, and should be disregarded by members of the public.

The Elders also debunked the report of incapacitation of Chief Babatope, stating that when the former Minister will transfer the leadership, it shall be through credible means.

Read the communique

The meeting was attended by prominent members of the caucus including Baba Ebenezer Babatope who joined virtually from his present location in Lagos to preside over the meeting.

The meeting deliberated on a number of issues affecting well-being of our great party, the PDP in Ijesha land and Osun State as a whole and resolved to continue to mediate in the best possible ways with a view to finding lasting and workable solutions to all lingering issues affecting the party.

Members at the meeting also deliberated and frowned at the recent denigration of the leader of the caucus, Chief Ebenezer Babatope by some ambitious and overzealous Individuals who wanted to overthrow him and take by force the leadership of the caucus.

We particularly frown at the deliberate and mischievous suggestion to the public that our leader, Baba Ebenezer Babatope was incapacitated to lead the group. This, the meeting found to be too uncouth, uncultured, inhuman and highly disrespectful to the person of Baba Ebenezer Babatope, his universal political family, and the entire PDP members in Ijesaland and Osun State in general.

Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard all insinuations making the rounds about the purported change in the leadership of the Ijesha PDP Elders Caucus.

Chief Ebenezer Babatope was at no time, prior to such social media induced insinuations, consulted nor approved of any gathering for such decisions where his leadership was entrusted in anybody’s hand.

Ijesha PDP Elders Caucus, therefore warn Mrs Olusola Obada, the former Deputy Governor in Osun State never to parade herself as the leader of the caucus because, the assemblage is not for sale neither is it a creation of acrimony and must not be driven to such tendencies on the chessboard of political scampers, who will do anything for relevance including inordinate supplanting of our leader so gleefully without recourse to simple dictates of their culture.

The meeting also observed that just as Baba Ebenezer Babatope was being castigated for God’s blessings of long life, Chief Mrs Erelu Obada who is making herself available as pawn in this whole school boy game, is also not a chick in the Pen. She is therefore advised to live her class and vast experience which we do not expect to include mastery of rudiments of unscrupulous coups.

Premised on the foregoing, the meeting therefore resolved as follows:

1, That Chief Ebenezer Babatope remains the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) overall leader in Ijeshaland.

2, That the purported replacement of Chief Ebenezer Babatope with Erelu Olusola Obada by a few elements within the party in Ijeshaland is null, void and of no effect whatsoever.

3, That when it is time for Chief Ebenezer Babatope to transfer leadership to a successor, it will never be a black market arrangement. Rather, all known leaders of the PDP across Ijeshaland will be invited and such a successor will receive his blessing.

4, That members of the public and more importantly, party members should discountenance the wrong information about Erelu Obada’s emergence as a new leader of the People’s Democratic Party in Ijeshaland.

5, All the authors and participants in the failed coup of the 8th of January, 2021 are another set of “TRUMPS”
in Ijeshaland PDP.

6, That the People’s Democratic Party in Ijeshaland is one and indivisible.

7, That henceforth, meetings of the Ijesha PDP’s Elders Causus should be held regularly at Chief Ebenezer Babatope’s house.

The meeting affirms the leadership of Baba Ebenezer Abayomi Babatope as head and overall leader of the Ijesha PDP Elders Caucus just as we pray God to continue to grant him long life and strength on earth.

Ijesha PDP Elders Caucus used the occasion to wish all PDP members a happy and prosperous New Year.

God bless Ijeshaland,
God bless Osun State,
God bless federal Republic of Nigeria.
