The Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin has struck out the suit challenging the candidature of Hon. Ahmed Yinka Aluko as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency.

Aluko was declared the winner of  the party’s primary election held on May 27th in Ilorin.

But one of the aspirants that contested the election, Hajia Sa’adat Kawu-Moddibo had approached the court to challenge the result of the primary election, alleging fraud in the process.

She prayed to the court to compel both APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission to  recognise her as the authentic candidate of the party in the forthcoming election.

In his judgement on Wednesday, Justice I. M. Sanni declared Aluko as the winner of the shadow elections, describing Kawu-Moddibo’s case as lacking in merits.

Aluko had been declared the winner of the House of Representatives primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, which was held at the Banquet Hall of the state.

Reacting to the ruling, Hon. Aluko call for calm among supporters and aggrieved party members, saying, “no winner, no vanquished” as the time is now to close ranks, unite and work for the victory of the party in the 2023 general elections as this is the only way to defeat the oppositions.
