Popular Nollywood actor Gideon Okeke has revealed the reason behind his public criticism of colleague, Jim Iyke.
In a post via his Instagram page on Monday, Okeke accused Iyke of being insincere and unprofessional, describing him as a “small boy” with a “fake American accent” and questionable acting skills.
He wrote: ‘‘I’ve met some really solid individuals while I’ve also met some phony ass peeps. Like that Jim Iyke guy who wants to be a gold fish but has no sense of character. Small boy to me. Small boy…
‘‘If only Jim Iyke could act he would be a good actor. But sorry, he is a phony ass kneegar. Matter of fact? He is a small boy to me. Fake American accent. Fake everything. Small boy..’’
The actor has now shed light on the underlying reason for his harsh comments.
Okeke disclosed that he sustained a serious injury while working on a production overseen by Jim Iyke. The injury, which required two stitches, reportedly took three months to heal, leaving him frustrated over safety standards on set.
Speaking further, Okeke expressed concern over the lack of safety protocols in the industry, referencing a similar incident involving Junior Pope earlier this year.
His post read,”For the benefit of clarity, For the benefit of My new employers,
“My supporters, and the new year coming— Jnr Pope, is one death, too many, in this business. And that only happened this year, 2024.
“Had I gotten anything more than these 2 stitches on the set of iim Iyke’s production, yall would still can me a fool I guess. It’s taken 3 whole Months to heal from that and still I am committed to ensuring SAFETY, at the Nollywood work place Sometimes I’ve asked Myself, WHY WAS IT ME WHO GOT HURT?
“I guess it’s so that NOBODY ELSE, gets to take one for the team. But jim ivke is running”
