Commissions classroom blocks, roads

Distributes N300m Empowerment Items

It was a harvest of commissioning in Osun West Senatorial District as the lawmaker representing the Constituency in the National Assembly commissioned blocks of classrooms, road and held empowerment for constituents.

The team, led by the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, Sunday Bisi commenced the commissioning at the Alma Mater of the lawmaker in Odeomu, where over seven blocks of classrooms, principal office, staff room, laboratory, school hall and borehole were commissioned.

Oyewumi described the project as fulfillment of a long term dream and an avenue to give back to the school that laid a solid foundation for his development as a human.

The next stop was in Gbongan, where a newly rehabilitated road was commissioned.

The team moved down to Odeyinka village to commission two new blocks of classrooms in the community. They were received by highly elated community members who described the intervention as the biggest in the history of the community.

Speaking with the Prince of the School, Mr Joseph Babalola said the classrooms had become a threat to the learning as it leaks during the rainy season, thereby subjecting the students to hardships.

“Before this intervention, we have been having a series of problems. Learning stops when rain is falling because every classroom was leaking and were not conducive for learning. But with this, things will change. We’re grateful to the Senator.”

Leaving Odeyinka, the team proceeded to AUD primary school in Ikire where a N300m empowerment project was held.

The projects, which were in partnership with Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, Ilorin and other federal government agencies, included distribution of cars, tricycles, motorcycles, deep freezers, grinding machines, barber’s kits, generators, among others.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the PDP described the lawmaker as a good ambassador of the Party who is giving the constituency a “fantastic representation”.

While speaking with InsightMedia, Senator Oyewumi said he’s ready to change the narratives about education in Osun West, most especially in terms of infrastructural development.

“The state of education in our constituency when I came on board was very bad. Majority of our schools were leaking and classrooms not conducive for learning. But I said I was going to address it. I believe that in my eight years, I’ll build close to 40 blocks of classrooms across the ten local government areas of Osun West. I’m passionate about education standards of our people and I’ll continue to complement the efforts of our Governor in that sector.”

Speaking on the overall infrastructural deficits in Osun West, Senator Oyewumi said the long neglect of the zone contributed to the decay.

“Apart from the 22 of Late Isiaka Adeleke, Osun West had not produced Governor until Senator Ademola Adeleke. Those people who governed during those periods neglected our zone but we’re ready to address it now. I’m currently constructing a number of kilometers of roads and in 2025 budget, more roads will be facilitated to our zone. We’ll surely meet up with other constituencies.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with InsightMedia described the lawmaker as best the constituency has produced.
