Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia, a prominent Nigerian media personality, has announced his resignation from The Honest Bunch podcast. His decision comes in the wake of controversy stemming from a recent episode featuring comedian and reality TV star Deeone, who claimed that social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) had an attraction to men.
In response to these allegations, VDM accused Nedu of repeatedly requesting his presence on the podcast since 2024, even offering to buy him a car as an incentive. VDM further claimed that Nedu’s persistent outreach was the catalyst behind Deeone’s accusations.
Moreover, VDM issued a warning through his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, advising Nedu to cease further communication, threatening to expose alleged relationships with female celebrities should the issue continue.
On Friday, Nedu shared a statement on Instagram explaining that the mounting scrutiny and unfounded allegations had taken a personal toll on him. He described his departure as a necessary step for his well-being and the integrity of the podcast.
“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me,” Nedu said. “Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one based on open conversations, bold perspectives, and a commitment to tackle tough subjects. However, this responsibility has also brought with it overwhelming scrutiny, antagonism, and baseless accusations that are now affecting me personally.”
He continued, “Given recent events, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This isn’t a decision I take lightly, but it’s one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, my family, and the integrity of the show. While I’ve always valued honest conversations, when those discussions turn into relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it’s clear that stepping back is the best way forward.”
Nedu expressed hope that his departure would end the ongoing negativity surrounding his name and allow the podcast to thrive. He also reaffirmed his commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue and looks forward to future opportunities aligned with that vision.
“I wish the show continued success and thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey,” he concluded.
