The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed as false recent reports alleging the arrest of hundreds of Boko Haram suspects across the state.

In a statement released Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, described the claims as “entirely baseless, malicious, and aimed at inciting public fear.”

Hundeyin said that following the circulation of the report, Commissioner of Police CP Olohundare Jimoh directed an immediate investigation. The inquiry found no evidence of Boko Haram arrests, sightings, or activity in any part of Lagos.

“Police teams, including officers from the State Intelligence Department (SID) and surveillance units, visited the alleged locations, including various trailer parks,” Hundeyin explained. “Community leaders and residents confirmed that no such arrests took place.”

The Command emphasized that the report was fabricated and warned the public against the spread of misinformation.

Hundeyin urged Lagosians to remain calm and continue their daily routines, assuring them that security measures are firmly in place.

He also appealed to media outlets to verify facts before publishing reports, warning that misinformation could endanger public order.

“Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or call the command’s control room at 08063299264,” the statement added.
