The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that the performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is consistent with results from the past 12 years.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, addressed public concerns over this year’s outcome. He clarified that the results are not unusual, noting that out of the 1.9 million candidates who took the exam, about 1.5 million scored below 200.

“This year’s performance is in line with historical trends,” Oloyede said. “There is nothing extraordinary about it. The statistics are consistent with what we’ve seen over the last 12 years.”

On the delay in releasing individual results, the Registrar explained that JAMB is currently reviewing certain cases to ensure the integrity of the process.

“We’ve published the general performance data, but the release of individual scores has been held back due to ongoing reviews involving candidates with borderline issues,” he said. “We are working to determine whether those results should be released or withheld. This process should be concluded soon, likely by tomorrow.”
