Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has addressed growing speculation surrounding the futures of Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, assuring fans that the club has a clear plan ahead of the summer transfer window.
Speaking ahead of United’s final Premier League clash of the season against Aston Villa, Amorim made it clear that his immediate focus remains on the upcoming match. However, he acknowledged the need for conversations with key players amid uncertainty about their futures.
Bruno Fernandes has reportedly drawn interest from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, who are said to have offered the United captain a lucrative three-year deal worth up to £200 million. Meanwhile, Garnacho raised eyebrows after expressing frustration over his limited role in United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League Final. The young winger was left on the bench until the 70th minute, despite United’s lackluster attacking display.
“We’ll speak with the players, but right now the focus is the final game,” Amorim said. “We don’t know exactly what will happen, but we have a plan. We’ve prepared for both scenarios – with and without Champions League football. We already have a clear idea of the kind of squad we want. Once the season is over, we’ll evaluate everything.”
Amorim emphasized that one transfer window will not be enough to fix the club’s deeper issues and warned supporters that rebuilding will take time.
“Things can change quickly, but reaching the level Manchester United needs to be at will take time,” he added. “I don’t know how many windows or how many years it will take, but we will improve – that’s certain.”
Reflecting on the recent loss to Spurs in the Europa League Final, Amorim said: “It was a very tough defeat – and it still hurts. We were the better team, created more chances, but conceded just before half-time. We gave everything in the second half, but it wasn’t enough. Not winning the final made it even harder to take.”
As the season draws to a close, fans are eager for a fresh start. While Amorim continues to urge focus on the final fixture, attention is quickly shifting to how he and the club’s leadership will approach the summer and begin to rebuild.
