Authorities in Iran’s Qom province have arrested 22 individuals accused of having ties to Israeli intelligence services, the state-aligned Fars news agency reported on Saturday.

According to the province’s police intelligence chief, the suspects were detained between June 13 and now on allegations of collaborating with Israeli spy networks, spreading misinformation, and supporting what Iran refers to as the “Zionist regime.”

This development follows a previous announcement on Thursday, when Iranian police reported the arrest of 24 individuals allegedly involved in espionage activities for Israel and attempting to damage Iran’s reputation, as reported by the Tasnim news agency.

Additionally, Tasnim reported on Friday that a European national had also been taken into custody on suspicion of spying. No further details were provided about the person’s identity or the date of arrest.

Iran frequently announces arrests linked to espionage, often implicating foreign intelligence agencies. In recent weeks, multiple suspects have been executed following such accusations.

Iran Human Rights, a Norway-based NGO, stated that at least 223 people have been detained nationwide over alleged connections to Israeli intelligence, though the group warns the true number could be significantly higher.
