Nigeria’s Super Eagles have slipped one spot to 44th in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday. Despite the drop, the team gained 2.91 points, bringing their total to 1484.26.

The minor change follows Nigeria’s recent performances two draws and one win in the most recent international match window.

Previously ranked 43rd, the Super Eagles now sit behind Paraguay and just ahead of Côte d’Ivoire, who fell to 45th after losing four places due to underwhelming results. Côte d’Ivoire now has 1483.45 points.

At the top of the global table, Argentina retained first place, despite a 0.8-point drop. Spain moved up to second after gaining 12.45 points, pushing France to third. England and Brazil complete the top five.

Portugal and the Netherlands climbed one place each, now ranking 6th and 7th respectively. Portugal saw the biggest point increase among the top ten with a gain of 20.45.

Germany dropped one spot to 9th, holding steady in points, while Italy fell two places to 11th after a 15.73-point loss.

In the top 20, Mexico made the most significant progress, rising four places to 13th with a 42.79-point increase. The USA and Norway also had notable gains, each adding over 20 points.

At the bottom of the rankings, San Marino remains last at 210th with 738.24 points.

FIFA rankings are periodically updated based on international match outcomes. These rankings help determine seedings for tournaments and offer insight into global football standings.
