Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has said that Nigeria is now significantly safer than it was two years ago, citing a marked reduction in attacks and the return of normal activities in many communities.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Gen. Musa affirmed that the country has made substantial progress in its security efforts.
“I know we’re doing better. I’ve travelled across the country, and everywhere I go, people commend us for our efforts,” he said.
Although he acknowledged that isolated attacks still occur, Musa stressed that their frequency has decreased sharply compared to previous years.
“Sometimes, people hear about a single attack and get alarmed. But compared to how frequent they used to be, things have clearly improved.
Markets have reopened, schools are functioning again, and people are going to church. We may not achieve 100% security, but we are making progress and we’ll keep doing more,” he said.
He emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to national peace and called for unity among Nigerians.
“The government and armed forces are working hard. But beyond that, we all must come together as Nigerians. We need to love one another, protect each other, and only then can we truly succeed,” Musa added.
