The Lagos State Police Command has taken into custody a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area of the state.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the matter was first reported by the child’s mother last week.

The statement said, *“The incident occurred on 21st September, 2025, at about 2350hrs, when the mother of the child reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.

“The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the father of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000.00) for his release.”*

The police spokesperson further explained that operatives visited and obtained information from one Aruna Dauda, who had acted as guarantor for the suspect before his employment, and took him in for questioning.

She added that the suspect eventually released the boy, but officers sustained their pursuit to ensure he was brought to justice.

*“On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.

“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,”* Adebisi stated.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the act, stressing that the Command remained resolute in combating violent and capital crimes in Lagos.

The police appealed to parents and guardians to remain alert and urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity through the Command’s emergency contacts.

Earlier this month, the Command confirmed that five bodies discovered along the Oreta riverbank in the Igbogbo community, Ikorodu, were victims of a cult-related attack. The incident was among a series of cult clashes in Lagos, which have so far led to the arrest of over 26 suspects.
