The quarter-final picture of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 is completed after Algeria’s dramatic Round of 16 victory over DR Congo on Tuesday night and the comfortable 3-0 win of Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

Teams have now secured their places in the last eight of Africa’s biggest football tournament.

Algeria sealed qualification after edging DR Congo 1–0 after extra time in Rabat. Substitute Anis Boulbina proved to be the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 119th minute to send the Desert Foxes through. That win sets up a mouth-watering quarter-final clash with Nigeria.

The Super Eagles booked their own place earlier on Monday night with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique. Victor Osimhen starred in the encounter, scoring twice to power Nigeria into the last eight.

Senegal, Mali, tournament hosts Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt had already confirmed their quarter-final spots ahead of Algeria’s win, leaving only the Côte d’Ivoire versus Burkina Faso tie to determine the final line-up.
