Following his high-profile declaration for the Ifelodun State Constituency seat, businessman and philanthropist Ayodeji David Olaniyi has further clarified his legislative roadmap, stating that his primary goal is to turn Ifelodun into an economic hub that complements the statewide successes of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking with community leaders in Ikirun, Olaniyi emphasised that the era of “politics as usual” must give way to a “results-driven” approach.

He argued that his experience managing multi-state enterprises in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo has prepared him to tackle the legislative hurdles that often stall local development.

“I am not coming into politics because I need a job; I am coming into politics because I know how to create jobs,” Olaniyi told the gathering. “My track record in the private sector is an open book. From the streets of Lagos to the markets of Ibadan, I have learned that leadership is about resource management. I want to bring that same corporate discipline to the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly to ensure that Ifelodun receives its fair share of growth.”

Olaniyi, who is contesting under the Accord Party, was quick to reiterate that his political philosophy is deeply rooted in the “Imole” movement led by the Executive Governor.

He noted that the Governor’s ability to deliver infrastructure despite lean resources is a masterclass in governance that he intends to support at the constituency level.

“We have a Governor in His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who has broken the jinx of abandoned projects in Osun. He is the light of the state, and my mission is to ensure that light shines even brighter in every ward of Ifelodun. As a lawmaker, I will not be a clog in the wheel of progress. Instead, I will be a legislative engine, working hand-in-hand with the Governor to push bills that attract investors and protect the interests of our local artisans and farmers.”

Addressing the youth of the constituency, the philanthropist-turned-politician promised a departure from the “tokenism” of the past. He pledged to use his office to facilitate sustainable empowerment rather than temporary handouts.

“Our people are hardworking, but they need a representative who speaks the language of the modern economy,” Olaniyi added. “When I talk about expansion, I’m talking about real opportunities. I am already expanding my own business interests into Osun because I believe in the Governor’s vision. If elected, I will be the Chief Marketing Officer for Ifelodun, bringing in the networks I’ve built across the Southwest to ensure our youth are gainfully employed and our local economy thrives.”

Community stakeholders at the event described Olaniyi’s candidacy as a “breath of fresh air,” noting that his alignment with the Adeleke administration, despite his party platform, shows a politician who prioritizes the welfare of the people over partisan bickering.
