Chelsea F.C. manager Liam Rosenior has ordered an internal investigation after the club’s starting line-up for their Champions League clash against Paris Saint‑Germain F.C. was reportedly leaked online hours before kick-off.
The Blues’ team sheet began circulating on social media on Wednesday afternoon about eight hours before the match, raising concerns within the club about a possible breach of internal security.
The information was first published by French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who revealed Chelsea’s starting XI and tactical adjustments ahead of the game. Among the details disclosed was the unexpected decision to start goalkeeper Filip Jørgensen ahead of Robert Sánchez.
The leak meant Chelsea’s tactical plans were already public knowledge before the team even arrived at Parc des Princes in Paris for the crucial UEFA Champions League encounter.
Speaking after the match, Rosenior admitted he had been unaware of the leak before kick-off but vowed the club would investigate the matter thoroughly.
“I wasn’t aware,” he said after the game. “If that’s the case, I’m sure we’ll get to the bottom of it. These things happen quite often in football now. I’m more concerned about the result than what happened before the game.”
Chelsea’s night ended in disappointment as PSG ran out 5–2 winners, a result that severely dented the London club’s European hopes.
Jørgensen’s selection became a major talking point after the 23-year-old goalkeeper made a costly error with the score tied at 2-2. Attempting to play the ball out from the back, he misplaced his pass, allowing PSG midfielder Vitinha to lob the ball into an empty net and restore the French side’s lead.
The goal triggered a late surge from the Parisians, who went on to seal a convincing victory.
Despite the mistake, Rosenior defended his goalkeeper, insisting errors are part of the game.
“Players make mistakes. Filip is not the first and won’t be the last. I make mistakes too. Sometimes they’re costly, but what matters is that the team supports each other. It’s a real test of our character,” he said.
Chelsea must now quickly shift focus to domestic action as they prepare for an important Premier League clash against Newcastle United F.C. this weekend. With the club currently battling for a top-four finish, pressure is mounting on Rosenior to address the defensive weaknesses exposed in Paris.
