Chelsea Football Club are set to make history with their first-ever visit to Nigeria this May, as part of their global fan engagement initiative, The Famous CFC.

The London-based club confirmed that Lagos will host one of the final stops of the 2025/26 tour, aimed at strengthening connections with supporters around the world.

Former Chelsea winger and Super Eagles star Victor Moses is expected to headline the Lagos event. He will engage fans through interactive activities, including a question-and-answer session and a watch party, with opportunities for supporters to win signed club memorabilia.

Chelsea described Lagos as a vibrant football hub, noting the importance of deepening ties with one of their largest and most passionate fan bases globally.

Nigeria has long maintained a strong connection with the club, thanks to a rich history of Nigerian players who have worn the Chelsea jersey. Moses remains one of the most celebrated, playing a crucial role in the club’s 2016/17 Premier League title-winning campaign. He also enjoyed international success, winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and representing Nigeria at two FIFA World Cups.

Before him, Celestine Babayaro helped popularise Chelsea among Nigerian fans in the late 1990s, while John Obi Mikel further strengthened that bond during a highly successful spell that saw him win multiple major trophies, including the UEFA Champions League.

Other Nigerian players linked to the club include Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina, both of whom also contributed to the growing Chelsea following in the country.

The Lagos visit will be the fifth stop on this season’s expanded global tour, which focuses on bringing fans closer to the club through immersive experiences.

For many Nigerian supporters, the event presents a rare chance to interact directly with the club and its legends, reinforcing a relationship that has grown stronger over the years.
