The Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of uniforms and luggage bags to intending pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Flagging off the exercise in Dutse, the Director-General of the board, Umar Labbo, described the initiative as a key step in preparations for the pilgrimage.
“This distribution ceremony marks a significant step in the lead-up to this year’s Hajj pilgrimage,” Labbo said.
According to him, the exercise is part of broader arrangements to ensure a smooth and successful journey for pilgrims from the state.
He explained that each male pilgrim would receive 12 yards of fabric for uniforms and two luggage bags, while female pilgrims would be given a wrapper, three and a half yards of material for hijab, and two luggage bags. Other items distributed include identification tags and enlightenment materials on Hajj operations.
The board disclosed that about 1,000 pilgrims from Jigawa State are expected to participate in this year’s exercise, with airlifting scheduled to begin on May 3, 2026, as announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Labbo added that visa processing for intending pilgrims had been completed, urging them to comply with guidelines set by both the board and Saudi authorities.
“The board has completed the processing of Hajj visas for its pilgrims,” he said, stressing the importance of adhering to all rules to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage.
He further called on pilgrims to promptly collect their materials and familiarise themselves with the regulations guiding the exercise.
The event was attended by board officials, clerics, intending pilgrims, and other stakeholders involved in the coordination of the Hajj exercise.
