The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for 632,788 candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking one of the quickest result releases in the board’s history.

The results, made public on Friday night, cover candidates who wrote the exam on Thursday, April 16. According to JAMB, candidates can now check their scores via SMS.

JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed that candidates are required to send “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number they used during registration.

He clarified that, for now, candidates can only view their scores, while the option to print detailed result slips will be made available later.

“The results of candidates who sat the UTME on April 16 have been released and are available for viewing. Candidates should send UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using their registered phone numbers. Printing of result slips is not yet enabled,” the statement noted.

The nationwide UTME, which commenced on April 16, is scheduled to run until April 22 across various centres in the country.

Meanwhile, JAMB has issued a stern warning against any attempt to manipulate or falsify examination results. The board stressed that altering official result messages is a criminal offence.

Benjamin revealed that two candidates and a parent have already been arrested for allegedly using artificial intelligence and other digital tools to falsify UTME scores. He added that those involved will face prosecution.

JAMB also assured that more results will be released in batches as the examination progresses nationwide.
