The Osun State University Alumni Association has reelected Abdulbasit Olalekan Abubakar as its President for another term of two years.
The election took place at the Association’s National Convention held on Saturday at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Hall on the Main Campus of the institution.
A statement by Oluwasegun Faleyimu, public relations officer of the association revealed that the congress recorded an impressive turnout of Alumni members from across Nigeria and the diaspora, who joined both physically and virtually.
Announcing the result of the polls, Electoral Committee chairman, Adekunle Akinrinade said “Abubakar was re‑elected as National President of the association unopposed, while Akinlade Boluwatife emerged as the National Vice President.
Azeez Uthman Adewale was elected as the National General Secretary, a position he now occupies as a fresh candidate, while Salami Adijat Yetunde similarly emerged as the National Social Director, also as a new officer.
In contrast, Arasanyin Azeezat Abimbola was returned as Assistant National General Secretary, Gbadamosi Abdulwahab Abiodun retained the position of National Treasurer, Habib Abdulrasheed Opeyemi was elected as National Financial Director, Oluwasegun Faleyimu was re‑elected as the National Public Relations Officer, and Dr. Adedayo Jamiu Afolabi emerged as the National Auditor General, with all of these being returning executives.
Faleyimu also stated that the Congress approved some ammendments into its constitution and ratified some appointments.
“Following extensive deliberations, Congress also adopted key constitutional amendments aimed at strengthening the administrative structure and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of the association.
“The convention further ratified the appointment of seven new members into the Board of Trustees, including Rev. Ayọrinde Joshua, Dr. Olaniyan Oluwatoyin, Mrs. Oladimeji Ifeade, Mr. Kudomi Teslim, Hon. Oriola Kabir Oladipo, Mr. Ifeoluwa Adelokun, and Mr. Yusuf Bello Olalekan.”
