The presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Osifo has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would support him if he emerges victorious in the party’s presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general election.

Osifo, currently the only known challenger to Tinubu for the APC ticket, said the contest within the ruling party is not a battle of enemies but a democratic process among party members.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Osifo maintained that there is no internal crisis within the APC, stressing that both he and the incumbent president share a common understanding as members of the same political platform.

According to him, if he defeats Tinubu during the primary election, the president would have no choice but to work with him in the interest of the party. He added that he would also support Tinubu if the president secures the ticket.

Osifo said the outcome of the primary election would determine his chances, noting that incumbency should not be seen as an automatic advantage.

He explained that while President Tinubu holds office as the current leader of the country, that alone does not guarantee victory in the party’s internal contest.

The APC aspirant insisted that the race remains open and that all members of the party are expected to respect the decision of delegates when the primary election takes place.

His comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 election continue to gather momentum, with early declarations and alignments already shaping conversations within major political parties across Nigeria.
