Members of the All Progressives Congress in Ayedire local government area of Osun State under the auspices of Kuta Youth Forum, have tackled the Chief Executive Officer of Peculiar Ultimate, Engr Lanre Adeleke over his “overbearing influence” on the affairs of the party in Iwo Federal Constituency.

The group in a statement obtained by InsightMedia on Saturday challenged Adeleke to produce his membership card of the APC, stating that his influence has continued to affect the progress of the party in Ayedire and Iwo Federal Constituency at large.

According to the statement signed by Olayonwa Paul, Roseline Olajide and John Adeniji, the group said Adeleke has not at any point “identified as a member of the APC but always want to dictate who gets what in the party.”

“Adeleke has never been a member of our party and he has not identified as such. But to our dismay, he has continued exert overbearing influence on our party to the detriment of the party faithful. We challenge him to produce the membership card of APC.”

Speaking on the crisis surrounding the Assembly ticket, the APC youth warned the leadership of the APC not to dance to the tune of Adeleke by imposing Olumide Adeniji on the party as candidate for the House of Assembly, stating that the “move will hand the party a defeat”.

“For the record, Mr. Olumide Adeniji openly admitted at the Ayedire Apex Leaders’ meeting that he worked against the party during the 2022 general elections. This is further supported by circulating voice recordings. His actions contributed significantly to the defeat of our leader, H.E. Gboyega Oyetola, and our constituency representative, Hon. Yunusa Akintola Amobi.

“We strongly state that the imposition of any rejected candidate from Adelere or under the influence of Adejare is not only against the will of Kuta but appears to be a calculated move to weaken and potentially hand over our great party, APC, to opposition forces.

We urgently call on H.E. Gboyega Oyetola to intervene and closely monitor developments in Ayedire Federal Constituency. The continued sidelining of community stakeholders will have serious consequences.

“It may interest every stakeholder that Lanre Adeleke imposed candidate on our party in the last election and we lost, even in his hometown of Ileogbo.

More so, the APC leadership has concluded arrangement to give the senatorial ticket to his kinsman. What else does Lanre Adeleke want? He should stop dictating for us in Kuta and allow us choose the best candidate.

“We also call on the Party Chairman and Secretary to act immediately before this situation escalates beyond control.”
