The Osun State Police Command has described the alleged assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke “B-Red”, the son of Governor Ademola Adeleke as false, unverified and an attempt to cause unnecessary panic.
InsightMedia recalled that the Osun State government in a statement by Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment announced that B-Red escaped assassination attempt at Oke-Fia on Wednesday.
Reacting to enquiry by InsightMedia, Spokesperson to Osun Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi described the report as unfounded.
“The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of an incident reported on 30th April 2026 at about 1630 hrs by Mr. Adebayo David Adeleke (M),a.k.a. “B-Red”, Ojelabi narrated the report made by B-Red.
“The complainant stated that, on 29th April 2026 at about 1530 hours, while he was driving along the Olaiya–Alekuwodo area of Osogbo, he noticed his vehicle was been followed by group of individuals on motorcycle. The individuals were reportedly pointing at his moving vehicle and chanting words suggesting he was “the Governor’s son.”
“After passing the traffic light in the area, the complainant further reported that a white Toyota Venza vehicle without a registration number, along with some unidentified men on motorcycles, began to follow him. He stated that he and his associates were able to leave the environment and safely find their way into the Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo. The complainant confirmed that he was neither attacked nor physically harmed during the incident.”
The police spokesman said the matter was to transfered to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.
“The Command wishes to categorically state that the report, as presently being circulated, is false, unverified, and capable of causing unnecessary tension and panic among members of the public,” Ojelabi declared.
