Social media personality and outspoken critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reacted to threats of legal action from the Presidency over a viral doctored video allegedly involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The controversy followed the circulation of a manipulated video on social media, which allegedly featured fake audio linked to the President.
Reacting to the development, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga warned that VDM would be made to face the law over the incident.
Responding in a video shared online, VDM said he was prepared for any legal battle that might arise from the matter, insisting that he would not run from the situation.
“I will not defend the allegations. If I respond, let God punish me. I want to face that law. I will even book a flight to come earlier than I planned. I want to see what you people can do,” he said.
The self-acclaimed online police officer also maintained that citizens have the constitutional right to criticise the government whenever necessary.
According to him, speaking against perceived wrongdoing by those in power should not be seen as a crime in a democratic society.
The development has continued to generate mixed reactions across social media, with supporters and critics debating the limits of online activism, freedom of speech, and accountability in the digital space.
